The viability of our local airport must be protected for residents and tourists alike. By ignoring the recommendations of the ALUC, the City is placing an undue burden on our local airport in terms of increased liability and limiting future development. New residential or commercial development within the annexation area should not be allowed under the airports flight paths. The City’s business community relies on easy access to far flung metropolitan regions where face-to-face business transactions can occur and this cannot happen if the tarmacs cannot be extended to accommodate larger jets.
