It has not rained in quite a while! Many San Luis Obispo residents do not realize that our City's water supply comes solely from rain and water reserves in our local reservoirs. Recycling grey water into potable water is expensive and will not make much of a dent in our overall demand. We do not benefit from Sierra snowpack. I have worked with respected members of the community and employees from the Public Utilities Department to diagnose what water we have and water we can depend on to be available for future proposed development. Due to the uncertainties associated with climate change, we need to proceed cautiously when planning for more housing and commercial development. I will continue to advocate for responsible use of our City resources.
